THE FISHING
The fishing area that can be accessed from Caye Caulker is quite large. Guests can be bonefishing the Congrejo Cayes, just south of San Pedro one day and then tarpon fishing the next day within eye sight of Belize City. It really just depends on what you want to fish for. If you want to target bonefish is skinny water, you can spend a couple of days weaving your way through a host of small islands, secluded flats and feeder creeks where good numbers of tailing bones are always found. The area to the west and south of Caye Caulker has a decent snook population and it is not uncommon to run into snook while cutting through some of the narrow mangrove channels between flats.

This is a great mixed bag location in that just about every saltwater environment can be fished during the course of a week. Rolling tarpon, bonefish in tight to the mangroves, snook and mutton snapper on the edges of creeks and permit and bonefish on the marl flats. Due west of Caye Caulker is the highly productive Hicks Caye area. This large island has several flats systems that will come into play to produce all three of the flats species.

The other big draw to fishing the Caye Caulker area is the quality of our guides who lives on the island. Without question, he is one of the best guides we've ever fished with, in any location. He has that rare talent of just getting clients in front of big fish. His ability to consistently find good sized tarpon is extraordinary and there is no one who knows this area better from an angling perspective. If the weather cooperates, he will find tarpon! He also has a knack of finding schools of permit and we've had several clients over the past few years with 3-6 permit days.
